Exceldor Optimizes B2B Sales Portals for Farmers and Employees with Shopify Plus
Case Study Overview
Exceldor Coopérative is a prominent Canadian agri-food cooperative specialized in poultry processing and distribution, renowned for its quality products, sustainable practices and strong regional commitment. At the root of its business are two distinct audiences: internal employees managing ongoing sales cycles, and member-producers (farmers) who co-own the cooperative and order production supplies. Recognizing the need for a more agile and unified digital infrastructure, Exceldor engaged Novatize to modernize its eCommerce ecosystem, creating two dedicated portals on Shopify that cater to both internal teams and external production partners with tailored business logic.
The project delivered measurable outcomes:
- 2 dedicated sales portals launched, one for internal teams, one for partner farmers
- +350 cooperative member-owners served via the platform
- 2 strategic phases delivered in under 11 weeks
- 100% of identified needs integrated into the MVP
What Changed
Novatize first stabilized and optimized Exceldor’s internal ordering portal, improving usability and reducing friction in recurring sales cycles. A second Shopify storefront was then developed for cooperative members, offering unlimited purchasing and a simplified ordering experience tailored to producers. This dual-portal setup streamlined operations and added flexibility. The internal portal maintained product limits and order schedules, while the producer portal enabled autonomy and scalability. The result is a unified, efficient system that reduces manual work and connects both internal and external sales channels.
Why It Matters
Exceldor’s transformation demonstrates how a cooperative can successfully modernize its B2B-style and internal commerce within a single, scalable environment. By tailoring each portal to its users, Exceldor improved efficiency, strengthened partner engagement, and ensured long-term operational agility. This project stands as a strong example of how unified digital architecture can support complex business models while maintaining simplicity, performance, and brand consistency.
“From the very first project, we felt confident. Their expertise was obvious. For the second site, the choice of Novatize was a natural one: efficiency and speed were once again the order of the day.” — Judith Stafford, Digital Marketing Communications Advisor, Exceldor Cooperative
